Anticipating disturbance after the recent incident of Khargone violence on Ram Navami, the Bhopal police diverted the routes of procession on Hanuman Jayanti. Police also cancelled the permission for the procession in the Qazi camp area due to security and safety issues.

Most of the business establishments barring eateries and tea stalls were closed over safety concerns. The lanes were also heavily barricaded.

The grand Hanuman Jayanti procession was taken out from Kali Mandir, Tallaya and passed through Char Batti Chowraha, Budwara, Itwara, Azad Market, Jumerati, Goda Nakkas, Nadra Bus Stand and culminated at Sindhi Colony.

About 5,000 devotees, who thronged from all corners of the state capital, could be heard chanting Jai Jai Shri Ram and carrying saffron flags in their hands during the procession.

Keeping in mind the recent communal discord, objectionable slogans, banners and posters, that could hurt the sentiments of people of other religion or sect, were not allowed.
