A massive fire broke out in one of the bogies of the of the Delhi-Dehradun Shatabdi Express on Saturday morning due to a short circuit.


The mishap occurred in the C4 compartment of the Delhi-Dehradun Shatabdi Express between Raiwala and Kansrao stations at around 12:20 pm following which, the eighth coach had to be detached from the rest of the train during the journey.

According to the reports, a total of 35 passengers were safely evacuated from the affected coach to another bogie. The rest of the coaches were kept at a safe distance. The train guard informed that all passengers are safe, and there was no case of


News agency ANI quoted Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar confirming the incident and stating that the fire has been brought under control. There was no injury reported and all passengers were safely evacuated.


“A fire broke out in one of the Delhi-Dehradun Shatabdi Express today due to a short circuit. The incident happened near Kansro. All passengers were safely evacuated, no injuries have been reported," DGP Ashok Kumar said.

“The fire which broke out in the C4 compartment of the Delhi-Dehradun Shatabdi Express train today has been brought under control. All passengers are safe," the official added.


The train later resumed its journey.
