Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and his mother participated in the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign and planted a sapling on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima on Sunday.
The Uttarakhand CM participated in the program, which was organized by the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) in Dehradun, and appealed to the people to plant trees by joining the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign.
Dhami's "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign was also trending on social media where a large number of youths posted on the internet supporting CM Dhami's appeal. The campaign #Join EkPedMaaKeNaam was also trending on social media platform X for hours.
"On the occasion of World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had appealed to the countrymen to plant trees under the initiative 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' that has been taken up as a campaign in the state," Pushkar Singh Dhami said.
During the Mann Ki Baat program, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had appealed to all the countrymen to plant a tree in the name of their mother.
Recently, on the occasion of Uttarakhand's local festival Harela, Chief Minister Dhami had called on the people in the state to participate in the initiative during the monsoon season.
The CM's appeal saw a good response from the youths as lakhs of youngsters across the state joined this campaign and planted lakhs of saplings in various places across the state.
A tree plantation campaign is underway in the state, spanning from the Harela festival on July 16 to August 15.
