A mass shooting of 10 people in West Philadelphia in the United States led to three deaths on Sunday morning. 


The shooting took place during a block party where over 100 people were present, near the intersection of Alden Street and Girard Avenue in West Philadelphia at around 2 am.


Philadelphia Police said it is investigating the shooting and added that the preliminary information showed that the deaths took place due to exchange of gunfire between multiple parties.


In a statement on X, the Philadelphia Police Department said, "We continue to investigate this morning's senseless shooting on 1200 Alden Street. Upon arrival, officers located multiple victims suffering from gun shot wounds. Preliminary information indicates an exchange of gunfire between multiple parties resulting in a nonuple shooting and triple homicide. Multiple calibers of FCCs were recovered which is consistent with an exchange of gunfire between individuals on location."






It added that the Philadelphia Commissioner is in constant contact with PPD Homicide as well as the Mayor's office and will provide details when there are updates. 


According to a report in Fox News, some of the shooting victims were rushed to the hospital by police, while others were taken away by neighbours.


Those injured were reportedly in stable condition as of 9:30 am (local time) on Sunday. 


Police said that the suspects behind the shooting are at large and yet to be identified. 


The latest shooting comes weeks after a late-night mass shooting on Independence Day in Philadelphia where one person was killed and eight others suffered serious injuries. The shooting took place near the city's Kingsessing neighborhood around 10 kilometres southwest of downtown.
