Uttarakhand Police Probing Triple Murder Case After They Find Fourth Body

Uttarakhand Police are using drones and a dog squad while hunting for a man accused in a triple-murder case. The police began looking for the accused after they found a fourth body last week.

The Uttarakhand Police are employing the assistance of drones and a team of dogs in their search for a suspect involved in a triple homicide case. Officials reported on Sunday that following the discovery of a fourth body last week, police started searching for the suspect out of concerns that he may have been responsible for the death of his wife. The fourth body was of Chandra Devi, wife of accused Santosh Ram. Pithoragarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Lokeshwar Singh said the body was found at an old house on Friday night.

The police said, as reported by news agency PTI, that Ram allegedly had murdered his aunt Hemanti Devi (68), her daughter and daughter-in-law after an argument the same day.

Ram had recently purchased the house, where Chandra's body was found. An official said the house was locked from the outside and her children recovered her body from the inside after they broke opened the door, an official said, reported PTI.

Meanwhile, the police said they have launched a search operation for the accused and they are also using drones and a dog squad in order to catch the suspect.

Singh said a 60-member team consisting of police, PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) personnel are searching for Ram in the Ramganga valley and Gangolihat with the help of drones and a dog squad, reported PTI.

He said, as quoted by PTI, "The dogs are going up towards the high cliffs under which the river Ramganga flows. It gives rise to the possibility that the accused might have jumped into the river from the cliff. We are also searching for the accused along the river bank.”

The police are also suspecting that the absconding accused might have died by committing suicide after the quadruple murders.
