'Declined Ambulance', UP Man Takes Mother's Body In Hand-Driven Cart. Official Sacked After Video Surfaces

In Uttar Pradesh, the Pilibhit district headquarters has attached a pharmacist and the in-charge of a community health center in Bilsanda while a ward boy has been suspended following a viral video that showed a man transporting his mother's body home in a hand-driven cart due to a lack of vehicle, according to officials on Tuesday.
According to the news agency PTI, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Alok Kumar during a press briefing informed that the incident unfolded after the hut of 92-year-old Devki Devi caught fire on January 26, leading to her unfortunate demise. Vijaypal, her son, opted against a post-mortem examination. On January 27, the police brought the elderly woman's body to Bilsanda CHC to complete the necessary formalities, following which it was handed over to the family, reported PTI

Vijaypal alleged that despite multiple requests, the CHC superintendent and staff declined to provide an ambulance to transport the body home. Consequently, Vijaypal resorted to using a hand-driven cart, and the incident was captured on video and shared on social media platforms.
The Chief Medical Officer informed reporters that a two-member committee has been established to conduct an inquiry into the matter, aiming to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the denial of an ambulance and the subsequent events leading to the transportation of the body on a hand-driven cart.
Dr. Alok Kumar said that, in response to the video, Dr. Manish Raj Sharma, the Superintendent of the CHC, and pharmacist AN Ansari were removed and attached to the district headquarters.
Additionally, ward boy NK Pandey has been suspended in connection with the incident.
