‘Those Born With Silver Spoon…’: Yogi Hits Back At Akhilesh's Taunt Over ‘One Trillion Economy’ Goal

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav trained guns at each other over the condition of farmers, Dalits and other backward classes.

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav engaged in a war of words over the state of farmers, Dalits and backward classes, during the debate on flood and drought, on the concluding day of Monsoon Session of the Assembly.. While the SP chief lashed out at the government over its promise of achieving “one trillion dollar economy” without “investing in the agriculture sector”, CM Yogi hit back saying those “born with a silver spoon” won’t ever understand the problems of the backward classes.

Citing a media report in which the government was in line with the one trillion dollar economy, Akhilesh Yadav, in the state Assembly said, “How is one trillion dollar economy possible without the help of the farmers and without the improvement of the agricultural sector?

Taking potshots at the government over “corruption and hatred”, Yadav, as quoted by ANI, said, “Earlier, they (BJP government) used to recognise themselves with ‘chaal, charitra aur chehra’, but now they are known by hatred, corruption, unemployment and inflation.”

Slamming the Leader of Opposition over his remark, CM Yogi said Akhilesh Yadav’s one-and-half hour speech only focused on the waterlogging in Gorakhpur, while he conveniently dodged the main subject.

“Those who are born with a silver spoon, will not understand the problems of the poor farmers, dalits or backward classes. What they did for them is known to the entire state and the country,” CM Yogi said, as reported by PTI.

Escalating his attack on the SP chief, the chief minister cited how the Gorakhpur district and the entire eastern Uttar Pradesh bore the brunt of encephalitis when the Samajwadi Party was in power.

“Encephalitis in eastern UP claimed the lives of 50,000 children in 40 years, during which the Samajwadi Party part was in power four times,” CM Yogi said.

"We are proud that it (encephalitis) has been eliminated in the very first tenure of the BJP in the state. Go to Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Siddharthnagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Bahraich, Balrampur, Shrawasti, Gonda, Lakhimpur and Pilibhit. It has been eradicated, only the announcement remains," he added.
