UP CM Yogi Adityanath Announces Pension Of Rs 4,000 For Children Who Lost Parents To Covid

Lucknow: In a big decision on Friday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a monthly pension of Rs 4000 as an incentive to children who lost their parents due to Covid-19. The pension scheme was launched under the Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana. 

"The state government will give Rs 4,000 per month to children who lost their parents, till they turn 18 under Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana," said the Chief Minister.

Sharing information on the statistics of such children in the city of Gorakhpur, he said, “At least 174 children have lost bread-earner of the family." 

While talking about further arrangements the state government has decided upon, the CM informed about the provision of education to such children under different schemes.

The CM said that the state government will take the responsibility of facilitating children with free education who are above 18 years of age and are presently enrolled for higher education in technical courses. A tablet will also be provided to them.

According to the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Uttar Pradesh has 6,019 active cases, along with 1,675,684 cumulative recoveries and 22,030 cumulative deaths.  

The significant announcement comes in the light of the twin crisis of loss of parents and lack of resources India is facing due to the pandemic. Notably, governments of states such as Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, etc have recently stepped in with free aid for children in this situation. 

Help in the form of scholarships, pension, free education, free ration, etc is being provides to support these kids in the current tough times.
