UP Elections | Muslim-Yadav Vote Bank Won't Work, Says Owaisi; Vouches For 'A To Z' Equation
Uttar Pradesh Election: Asaduddin Owaisi said that A to Z equation will work instead of the MY (Muslim-Yadav) equation.
Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election: Will Uttar Pradesh become Bengal or Bihar for Asaduddin Owaisi? All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi is in no mood to repeat the mistakes he made in Bengal. Owaisi announced his political strategy for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections as he declared "this time 'MY factor' will not work in UP."
MY stands for Muslim-Yadav which constitutes about 30 percent of the vote bank of UP. This has been the strength of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and it is attributed that 'MY' is the same factor due to which Mulayam Singh and his son Akhilesh Yadav became the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh.
As per the general notion, Samajwadi Party is considered the first choice for Muslims voters in UP. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi wants to change this choice and gain popularity in the most populous state of India. Owaisi's Kite cannot fly without puncturing Samajwadi Party's cycle.
Owaisi is also targetting the mindset where it is considered that Muslim voters lean towards those parties which in order can defeat BJP. With not a big presence in UP, AIMIM wants Muslims to vote for them considering them "Apna" or "Their Own".
This formula to consolidate Muslim voters under one banner of AIMIM did not work in the last UP assembly elections. AIMIM had fielded candidates on 38 seats, they lost on each of them, and out of that on 37 seats were not able to even secure their deposits.
A To Z Equation
Asaduddin Owaisi inaugurated the party office of AIMIM in Eastern UP's Bahraich today and visited the Dargah of Ghazi Salar Masood. While addressing the people there, he said that the "A to Z equation will work instead of the MY equation."
This time Owaisi is trying to win the UP assembly election by defeating Akhilesh Yadav rather than focusing on just one set of the vote bank.
