Congress Credits Rahul Gandhi's Nyaya Yatra For Cancellation Of UP Police Exam After Paper Leak

Congress attributed the cancellation of the Uttar Pradesh police constable recruitment examination to Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

Congress General Secretary in-charge Communications, Jairam Ramesh, on Saturday, attributed the cancellation of the Uttar Pradesh police constable recruitment examination to Rahul Gandhi and his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, as reported by news agency PTI. The UP government, responding to the allegations, announced the cancellation of the exam, scheduling a retest within six months earlier in the day.

In a statement, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asserted that strict action would be taken against those found using unfair means during the February 17-18 exam. He stated, "Those involved are under STF radar, and some significant arrests have been made".

Rahul Gandhi termed the cancellation as a victory for youth unity and student power, saying 'that unity leads to triumph'. "Big victory for student power and youth unity! Uttar Pradesh Police Exam was finally cancelled. The message is clear - our rights can be won only by fighting unitedly," Gandhi stated.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also regarded the cancellation as a submission to the power of youth. She slammed the BJP government, alleging corruption and a negligent attitude towards the youth's future.

"The government should announce the new date soon, ensuring no paper leak this time," Priyanka Gandhi urged.

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force initiated an investigation following allegations of misconduct, as reported by PTI. Over 48 lakh candidates appeared for the exam across 2,378 centres in 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has stated that "there can be no compromise with the sanctity of examinations" and promised strict action against "unruly elements".

"There can be no compromise on exam integrity. Those undermining the hard work of youngsters will face consequences. Stringent action awaits such unruly elements," he said in a Hindi X post.

As per the PTI report, authorities arrested over 240 individuals across Uttar Pradesh for suspected involvement in or planning to employ unfair means during the recruitment exam.
