UP: Constable Killed, Sub-Inspector Injured By Single Bullet In Accidental Firing During Raid In Aligarh

During an anti-cattle smuggling raid in Uttar Pradesh, a constable was shot accidentally by a service weapon belonging to an inspector, injuring a sub-inspector.

A constable was killed after an inspector's service weapon accidentally discharged during a raid to arrest cattle smugglers in the Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh. A sub-inspector was also injured during the incident and is currently receiving treatment.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjiv Suman stated that the Special Operations Group (SOG) and officers from two police stations were conducting a raid in a village near the Bulandshahr district on Thursday to catch cattle smugglers, a report in India Today said.

During the raid, the pistol of Inspector Azhar Hussain was jammed. Sub-Inspector Rajiv Kumar tried to fix the weapon when it suddenly fired. The bullet hit Kumar in the abdomen and then struck Constable Yakoob in the head.
