A scuffle broke out after a BJP worker suffered injuries during a Youth Congress rally in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The injury was reported after the Youth Congress members allegedly took to stone pelting at Telangana BJP office in Nampally. The ruling party workers in Telangana undertook the rally to condemn Delhi BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri over his controversial remarks about Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Earlier, Ramesh Bidhuri during a campaign in Delhi's Kalkaji constituency, compared roads to "Priyanka Gandhi's cheeks".
Raising slogans, protesters attempted to storm the BJP office but were prevented by police. In response, two groups of BJP Yuva Morcha workers marched to the Congress headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan, as per a report on PTI. The BJP workers tore down Congress leaders' flex boards and held a protest obstructing traffic.
Following this, police resorted to a lathi charge and arrested several protesters to control the situation.
Taking to X, Telangana BJP Chief Kishan Reddy said, "Strongly condemn the Congress party's goondaism, which targeted our @BJP4Telangana office in Nampally, Hyderabad, inflicting severe injuries on our Karyakartas. It is deeply unfortunate that the state has plunged into lawlessness under the Congress government, where goons, thugs, and violence are being given a free hand."
"Goondaism has become the new norm under the Congress. Such violent attacks on our offices will not be tolerated at any cost, and I demand stringent action against these Congress goons," he said.
The Congress demanded an apology, terming the remarks an insult to women. Some BJP leaders also disapproved of the statement prompting Bidhuri to express regret for his comments.
