The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA), established by the Telangana government to clear water body encroachments, inspected a farmhouse linked to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao on the outskirts of Hyderabad. This inspection is part of HYDRAA's ongoing efforts to protect water bodies from illegal constructions.

A six-member team comprising officials from the revenue and irrigation departments conducted the inspection of the Janwada farmhouse in Shankarpally for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, as reported by The New Indian Express.

The inspection aimed to assess whether any structures had been illegally built on the Firangi Nala, a waterway that feeds into the Osman Sagar (Gandipet) reservoir, amid allegations of encroachment.

Authorities measured the farmhouse and nearby canal to determine any encroachment on the lake and its buffer zone. KT Rama Rao, however, denied ownership of the Janwada farmhouse, stating it belongs to his friend, B Pradeep Reddy.

However, this action follows the recent demolition of the N Convention Centre, owned by popular Telugu actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, in Madhapur, Hyderabad, on August 24, as part of the agency’s intensified anti-encroachment drive.

HYDRAA authorities have also issued notices to other properties, including educational institutions owned by BRS MLA Ch Malla Reddy in Dundigal and an institution in Bandlaguda linked to All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, which are also accused of encroaching on water bodies.

Last week, HYDRAA officials along with the police carried out a demolition drive at N Convention Hall near Shilparamam in Rangareddy district. The hall reportedly belonged to Telugu actor Nagarjuna. On the demolition, Madhapur DCP said, "HYDRAA officials have started demolishing the N Convention Hall this morning and we have deployed police force to ensure the demolition is carried out smoothly, as the land comes under the FTL zone."
