Tamil Nadu: NTK Party Worker, 10 Others Arrested Over Sexual Assault Of Minor At 'Fake' NCC Camp

The fraudulent NCC camp, which took place about a week ago in Krishnagiri of Tamil Nadu, involved 41 students, including 17 girls.

Eleven persons including Naam Tamilar Functionary was arrested in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a Class 8 girl at a fraudulent National Cadet Corps (NCC) camp in Bargur, Krishnagiri district. The district's Collector, K M Sarayu, confirmed on Monday that 11 individuals, including the prime suspect, have been apprehended.

"The police arrested 11 people including the prime suspect, who organised the camp and school authorities, in connection with the sexual assault of a girl and abuse at a fake NCC camp and POCSO cases registered against them," collector Sarayu told reporters, as per PTI.

The district administration is providing counseling and psychological support to the victims through the district child protection unit. Their parents are also receiving support and counseling services.

The NCC headquarters swiftly distanced itself from the incident, clarifying that no official NCC camp had been organized in the area. They emphasized that the individuals involved in the alleged sexual harassment of schoolgirls had no affiliation with the NCC. 

In light of this incident, the school education department is conducting a thorough investigation into other potential fake camps that may have been organized in the past as well as any schools that might have been involved. Collector Sarayu mentioned that the suspect, identified as Sivaraman, had allegedly conducted five similar camps in the district before, and these are now under investigation by the Chief Education Officer. "We are also looking into other violations," she added.

In an official statement, the NCC headquarters reiterated that the incident had no connection to any NCC-registered institutions or personnel and condemned the misinformation circulating about their involvement. "This news is an unequivocal misinformation and obscuration of facts with a potential to be misconstrued as involvement of NCC personnel," the statement read.
