Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) Madurai North District Deputy Secretary Balasubramanian was hacked to death on Tuesday marking the second high-profile political assassination in Tamil Nadu within a week.


Loganathan, a senior police officer, revealed that the initial investigation suggest Balasubramanian's murder may be connected to a family dispute. He assured that a First Information Report (FIR) would be filed soon and a thorough investigation is already underway.


Madurai City Police Commissioner said, "Naam Tamilar Party's Madurai North District Deputy Secretary Balasubramanian was hacked to death this morning when he was walking in BB Kulam."


At the time of his morning walk, he was attacked by four people with sharp weapons and he succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Balasubramanian was reportedly a history-sheeter with three pending criminal cases against him, according to a report on ANI. 


This incident comes just days after the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Tamil Nadu President K. Armstrong. He was attacked and killed near his under-construction residence in Perambur by a group of men allegedly disguised as food delivery executives. The police have linked Armstrong's murder to gangster Arcot Suresh, who himself was killed last August.


VIP Chief's Father Killed




On Monday late night, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani's father was killed at his residence in Darbhanga of Bihar within the Biraul police station's jurisdiction. According to the local police, the investigation is underway into the murder.








The mutilated body of Jitan Sahani, father of Mukesh Sahani, was found on the bed in their home.
