Nagaur Viral Video: In a shocking incident in Rajasthan's Nagaur district, a woman was allegedly beaten by her alcoholic husband, tied to a motorcycle, and dragged around their village, the police informed on Tuesday. A video of the horrifying incident, which purportedly shows the woman being dragged behind the motorcycle, surfaced on social media, leading to the husband's arrest.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Surendra Kumar from the Panchaudi police station stated that the alleged incident occurred nearly a month ago in Naharsinghpura village, news agency PTI reported. The accused, identified as Premaram Meghwal, 32, reportedly thrashed his wife before tying her to his motorcycle and dragging her through the village. The woman, who did not report the incident, is currently residing with her relatives.

The disturbing video, which came to light on Monday, prompted the police to investigate the matter, resulting in Meghwal's arrest. He was taken into custody on Monday for disturbing the peace, police stated.
"His neighbours said Meghwal was an alcoholic and regularly thrashed his wife. He did not let her talk to anyone in the village either," the police added, as per PTI.
NDTV reported sources as saying that the woman may have been 'bought' by Meghwal, who is unemployed and reportedly addicted to drugs, around 10 months ago for ₹2 lakh.
Nagaur Police Superintendent Narayan Togas, speaking to NDTV, said, "We have taken the matter very seriously. It is believed the man and the woman had some dispute as she wanted to go to her sister. We have contacted her... she will be coming to Nagaur, after which we will take further action." Togas also confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed and that the person who filmed the attack but did not intervene will also be prosecuted.
