New Delhi: A 31-year-old woman in Rajasthan's Hanumangarh district was allegedly hacked to death by her father for refusing marriage, news agency PTI reported.


The accused, identified as Govind Singh, a farmer, has been arrested and is currently being interrogated, police said.


Singh, 55 years old, had persistently been pressurising his daughter, Krishna, to get married, not paying heed to her consistent refusals, Gogamedi police station SHO Ajay Kumar said, PTI reported.


According to SHO Kumar, the incident took place on Saturday when Singh entered Krishna's room while she was asleep and allegedly attacked her with an axe. The woman succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital.


The body has been transferred for post-mortem examination, SHO Kumar further added.

Man Arrested For Rape, Murder Of Minor Niece In Haryana


In a separate incident in Haryana’s Nuh, a man arrested in connection with the murder of his eight-year-old niece has admitted to killing the girl after raping her, news agency PTI reported, citing police.


The 27-year-old suspect was arrested on Friday on charges of suffocating the victim to death and hiding her body in a field, according to police sources, PTI reported.


During interrogation, the accused confessed to luring the girl and taking her to a secluded area, where he allegedly raped her. Subsequently, when the victim began to cry, he covered her mouth with his hand, ultimately resulting in her death due to suffocation, police added.


After committing the crime, the accused allegedly buried the girl's body in the field, as stated by police.

The girl had been reported missing on Wednesday while playing with other children near her residence, according to police.
