A video has surfaced on social media showing a birthday celebration within the confines of Ludhiana Central Jail in Punjab. The viral video, said to be from December 24, captured a birthday party held for an inmate identified as Arun Kumar, alias Mani within Barrack Number 4 of Ludhiana Jail. Confirming the incident, IG prison Roop Kumar revealed to ABP News, "This video pertains to the celebration of the birthday of the accused Arun Kumar, also known as Mani, on December 24. The Jail Department has ordered an inquiry into the matter."


Punjab BJP's General Secretary Parminder S Brar launched a scathing criticism of the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. In a social media post, he remarked, "Law and Order, Deterrence & Rehabilitation. These words hold no regard or value in the regime of @AAPPunjab led by Chief Minister @BhagwantMann ji. This video is said to be of Ludhiana Central Jail is visual proof of it."



According to ABP Sanjha, Mani, the inmate whose birthday was being celebrated, hails from Himachal Pradesh's Una district and is incarcerated in a murder case.

Ludhiana Jail Video: Inmate Destroys Mobile Phone Used To Shoot Birthday Celebration


The celebration within the jail involved 15 to 20 inmates, who were seen enjoying the festivities with tea and snacks. The inmates were also seen dancing to the tunes of Punjabi songs. One inmate recorded the celebration on Mani's mobile phone and shared it on social media.


In response to the viral video, jail authorities conducted searches within the barracks, ABP Sanjha reported. During the search, the mobile phone where the video was shot was allegedly damaged with an inmate throwing it on the ground. The police of Thana Division Number 7 have registered a case against the involved inmate, and six others have been named in the investigation.


As per ABP Sanjha, the prison officials were in their offices when inmates were celebrating Mani's birthday.


Notably, this incident follows a similar occurrence in Faridkot Central Modern Jail a month ago, where two inmates conducted a live session on social media, as per ABP Sanjha.
