One terrorist has been killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu & Kashmir's Pulwama. According to J&K Police, arms, ammunition, and incriminating material have been recovered from the site where the body of the slain terrorist was recovered. A search is on for more terrorists in the area. The incident comes on a day when Jammu & Kashmir is celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr along with the rest of the nation.
The encounter started early on Thursday in the Frassipora village of Pulwama district. Security forces in Jammu & Kashmir have been on their toes over the past few weeks. According to news agency PTI, security forces launched a search operation on Thursday after they received intelligence about the presence of terrorists in Frassipora. As the cops neared their hideout, the terrorists opened fire. The security personnel, too, opened counterfire and neutralised one terrorist. Following the encounter, the Central Reserve Police Force was deployed in Frassipora.

Details of the search operation are yet to be disclosed by the police. According to The Times of India, all entry and exit points to the village have been sealed to prevent the remaining terrorists from escaping.
The Baramulla Police also launched an operation and arrested three terrorists from the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) on Thursday. The cops recovered three grenades from them.
The security forces in the Union Territory have become extra alert over the past few weeks and foiled several attempts to smuggle drugs. Several alleged drug peddlers have been arrested in this regard.
