New Delhi: A massive fire erupted in a 27-storey residential building in the Mumbai suburb of Goregaon on Wednesday evening, but there was no immediate report of injury to anyone, civic officials said. The blaze erupted on the 26th floor of the 27-storey building, Anmol Pride, in Mahesh Nagar in the western suburb at around 6 pm, officials told news agency PTI.


Later, a video of the fire also surfaced on social media, in which a blaze can be seen erupting from the upper floors of the residential apartment.






The fire was confined to a closed penthouse spread across the 25th and 26th floors, said a civic official, adding there was no report of anyone getting injured or trapped, as per PTI's report. The high-rise's fire fighting system was not working and at least eight fire engines and other vehicles were deployed to douse the flames, an official further added.


The cause of the fire was not immediately known, as per officials who also said that eight fire tenders reached the spot immediately post getting information. 


According to a report by Mid-Day, the Mumbai Fire Brigade declared the incident as a Level 2 fire at 6:27 PM, mobilising a significant response team, including 01 District Fire Officer (DFO), 02 Assistant District Fire Officers (ADFO), 02 Senior Station Officers (SrSO), and 04 Station Officers (SO). The firefighting efforts are further supported by 07 Fire Engines (FE), 01 Hydraulic Rescue Fire Fighting Vehicle (HRFFV), 04 Jet Tanks (JT), 01 Aerial Water Tower Truck (AWTT), and 02 Hydraulic Platforms (HP).
