After the high-profile BMW hit-and-run case in Mumbai's Worli, another hit-and-run case was reported from Maharashtra's Nashik. A 36-year-old woman, identified as Vaishali Shinde, was flung into the air and thrown about 15-20 metres after a speeding car hit her from the back.

In the CCTV footage, that captured the horrific moment, the woman could be seen being hit by a white-colour hatchback from the back, tossing her in the air.

Two men who were standing on the same side of the road could be seen rushing towards the woman. She was taken to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries, reported NDTV.

The driver fled from the spot where the accident occurred in the Gangapur area around 5 pm.

Two persons have been taken into custody in connection with the matter, the NDTV report added.

The incident comes amid outrage over the Worli hit-and-run case where a couple was hit by a speeding BMW in Mumbai's Worli. The man survived the accident but his wife died after she was dragged on the car's bonnet for nearly one-and-a-half kilometres.

The accused in the case, Mihir Shah, son of a leader from the Eknath Shinde Shiv Sena faction, was arrested three days after the incident.

The 24-year-old accused had managed to evade the police since Sunday morning and was arrested from Virar near Mumbai.

Mihir's mother and two sisters were brought to Mumbai for questioning. According to the police, Mihir's politician father Rajesh Shah actively ensured his son's escape and had plans to tow away the BMW car after the accident.

The police produced the CCTV footage of the incident in the court on Monday where victim Kaveri Nakhwa was seen being dragged by the BMW car for 1.5 kilometres before it stopped.
