President Droupadi Murmu expressed condolence to the family members of those who were killed in a bus accident in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao. 18 people were killed after the bus they were travelling in rammed into a milk container on Agra-Lucknow Expressway in the early hours of Wednesday. 


"The news of the death of many people in a road accident on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh is extremely sad," said the President in a social media post on X. 


"I express my deepest condolences to the family members of those who have become victims of such sudden death and wish for the speedy recovery of those injured," she added. 






Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over the loss of lives and announced an ex gratia to the next of kin of each deceased and those injured in the mishap. 


"The road accident in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh is extremely painful. My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in this. May God give them strength in this difficult time," said the Prime Minister's Office in a statement. 






"Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is engaged in helping the victims in every possible way," it said. 


The Prime Minister has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased in the mishap in Unnao. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000, the PMO said. 


18 people were killed and 19 others injured after the double-decker bus travelling from Sitamarhi in Bihar to Delhi rammed into a milk tanker on Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao. The bus was carrying around 57 passengers, according to officials.
