Police in Mumbai have arrested two suspects after a corpse was found in a bag at Dadar railway station in Mumbai. On Monday morning, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) were conducting a luggage-checking operation when they discovered the body inside a suitcase. The piece of luggage had caught their attention because of its weight.
According to a report by ANI, the suspects have been identified as Jai Praveen Chavda and Shivjeet Surendra Singh. The victim has been identified as Arshad Ali Sheikh, a resident of Santacruz. The police said the suspects had a fight with the victim over a female friend.
After the murder, which is believed to have taken place on Sunday night, the suspects reportedly planned to travel by Tutari Express to dispose of the body.
Dadar Railway Police registered a case and arrested one of the suspects at the railway station. The other escaped but was later arrested in Ulhasnagar.
According to the police, the victim was invited to a party when a dispute took place between him and the suspects. The duo then killed Sheikh, wrapped his body in plastic and packed it in a suitcase, they said.
The victim and both suspects are hearing- and speech-impaired, and communicate using sign language. The police enlisted a sign-language expert to assist with the interrogation.
The murder took place in the jurisdiction of Pydhonie Police Station.
Murder Over Cooking In Surat
Last week, two brothers were arrested after they allegedly killed their roommate after a fight over cooking. The incident took place at the Sachin GIDC area of Surat. The perpetrators have been identified as Mahendra Singh and Ganesh. They allegedly thrashed 35-year-old Devendra Singh, a native of Uttarakhand, and strangled him to death at their house in Chhotu Kak.
They were all employed in textile units as labourers. According to a report by The Times of India, the murder came to light when the victim’s friend, Rajkumar Singh, came to meet him.
He informed the police, and Singh’s body was subsequently shifted to the civil hospital for an autopsy, which revealed serious injuries on his stomach.
Police registered an offence of murder on Sunday after Singh’s relative, Rathore, came from Pune.
