On the second day of his visit to Wayanad, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said Congress family would like to commit to built 100 plus houses in Meppadi. After a meeting with village panchayat leaders, he said that he would take the issue in Delhi and with the Kerala CM. He said that it was a different level of tragedy and should be treated differently.
Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said, "Today, we had a meeting with the administration and the panchayat. They briefed us on the number of casualties they expect, the number of houses that have been damaged and their strategy."

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other leaders were briefed about the disaster by the district administration and forest officers of Chooralmala and Meppadi of Kerala's Wayanad. Later, they also visited Mundakkai and Punchiri Mattam village affected by landslide in Wayanad.
