In Kannur of Kerala, a routine appliance repair took a perilous turn when a technician narrowly escaped being bitten by a baby cobra while repairing a washing machine. Mistaking the tiny reptile for a piece of cloth, the technician realised it was a snake only when he tried to reach for it. The incident occurred at the residence of PV Babu in the Taliparamba area.

The technician, Janardhanan Kadamberi, had come to fix the washing machine, which had not been working for two weeks. After completing initial repairs, Kadamberi switched the machine on to check its functionality.

As he noticed something inside, Kadamberi put his hand into the machine, thinking it was a piece of cloth. Upon realizing it was a snake, he quickly withdrew his hand and informed Babu, the homeowner, according to a report on India Today.

Babu expressed shock and bewilderment, stating that they had no idea how the snake had gotten trapped inside the washing machine, as the lid had been kept closed during the two weeks it was non-operational. He mentioned that there seemed to be no way for the snake to enter the machine.

Babu then contacted an animal rescuer from the Malabar Awareness and Rescue Centre for Wildlife (MARC).

Anil Trichambaram, a rescuer from MARC, arrived at the scene and safely removed the baby cobra from the washing machine. He later released the snake into the forest. Anil informed Manorama that this was the first time they had found a cobra inside a washing machine. He alleged that the two to three-week-old cobra might have entered through the drain pipe.

Last month, a couple from Bengaluru received an unexpected surprise with their latest Amazon delivery. Instead of the anticipated Xbox controller, the package contained a dangerous guest: a spectacled cobra. The family, who resides on Sarjapur Road, had ordered the gaming accessory.
