Kerala police have registered a case against a physiotherapist at the Kozhikode Beach Hospital for allegedly molesting a woman patient. The Vellayil police received the complaint on Thursday. The doctor has been identified as B Mahendran Nair (29) of Kozhikode District Hospital. 


According to the complaint, the woman was undergoing physiotherapy at the government hospital. She used to attend sessions from a female physiotherpist. However, during one of the sessions, a male physiotherpist attend her. At that time, the health worker allegedly misbehaved with her earlier this week. 


After the incident, the woman told her female physiotherapist about the molestation the next day. Based on the female doctor's suggestion, the survivour informed the hospital authorities who inturn reported it to the police, as per a report on Manorama. 


The physiotherapist who reportedly did the crime was transferred to Beach Hospital from another hospital.


"We received the complaint yesterday and registered a case under sections 75, 76, and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)," a police spokesperson said on Friday. Section 75 deals with the offence of using criminal force on a woman to outrage her modesty, while Sections 76 and 79 pertain to voyeurism and gestures or acts insulting the modesty of a woman, respectively, as per a report on PTI.


Police have initiated a probe but have yet to arrest the accused. Meanwhile, the Health Department has suspended the accused health worker.






Last year, a 55-year-old man was arrested by Kerala Police for allegedly sexually assaulting a female patient at Government Medical College Hospital in Kozhikode. The suspect, identified as Saseendran, a Grade II attendant, was accused by the woman, who had recently undergone surgery. She reported that the assault occurred in the post-operative facility. After gaining consciousness, the woman reportedly narrated her ordeal to her husband.
