Amid BJP dubbing the name change of Ramanagara to Bengaluru South as a ploy by Congress due to their alleged "anti-Ram" and "anti-Hindu" mindset, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar addressed the issue and emphasising unity under Bengaluru. Further, he criticised HD Kumaraswamy and HD Deve Gowda for dividing Ramanagara from Hassan.
On Ramanagara name change issue, Karnataka Dy CM DK Shivakumar said, "We are Bengaluru whether it is Ramanagara, Channapatna or Kanakapura...HD Kumaraswamy and HD Deve Gowda have come from Hassan. They came and divided Ramanagara from Hassan...People are very happy and the world is looking at Bengaluru...."

Ramanagara To Bengaluru South Name Change Sparks Controversy
The Karnataka Cabinet decided on Friday to rename Ramanagara district as Bengaluru South.
"We have decided to rename Ramanagara district as Bengaluru South to promote 'Brand Bengaluru' and in response to local demand. The Revenue Department will initiate the process," said Karnataka Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil.
BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla accused the Congress government of being involved in various scams, including one related to the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). He criticized the government for focusing on renaming the district instead of addressing these issues and the problems of the people. Poonawalla questioned if the renaming was done to benefit "real estate friends" or due to animosity towards Lord Ram.
Meanwhile, DK Shivakumar regarding Karnataka government's clearance to proposal to have fantasy park at KRS said, "Opposition doesn't know anything it was an earlier proposal. HD Kumaraswamy has also looked into it. We are only trying to upgrade the park and it's a public-private partnership where it will be built..."
