A 7-year-old boy suffered severe injuries after being struck by a speeding motorcycle while crossing a road in Baliyoor near the Manjeshwar area bordering Mangaluru. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, was captured on CCTV, sparking concern over road safety in the locality. The two-wheeler rider immediately fled the scene after hiting the boy.


The footage revealed the child attempting to cross the road when the motorcycle hit him from behind at high speed. Following the collision, a crowd quickly gathered at the scene. The video also showed a bus stopping to offer assistance to the injured child, who appeared to be in critical condition.

Local residents have expressed concerns over reckless driving in the area and urged authorities to implement stricter measures to ensure pedestrian safety. The boy was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, and his condition remains critical.


Further, authorities are reviewing the CCTV footage to identify the motorcyclist and determine the circumstances leading to the accident.


Meanwhile, five people lost their lives in two separate accidents on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday. The incidents occurred within the jurisdictions of Vishwanathapura and Ramanagara traffic police stations. In Vishwanathapura, a motorbike rider and the pillion passenger were killed on the spot when a car struck their vehicle. In Ramanagara, a KSRTC bus collided with a car on the Bengaluru-Mysuru access-controlled highway, claiming the lives of two men and a woman from Shivajinagar.
