A 24-year-old woman was murdered by a miscreant within the premises of her PG accommodation at VR Layout, Koramangala on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Kriti Kumari, a resident of Bihar and the murder reportedly occurred between 11:10 and 11:30 pm. She was working for a private company in Bengaluru.
The murder reportedly took place when a young man entered the women's PG armed with a knife. He assaulted Kriti near her third-floor room and ultimately strangling her to death. Later, Kriti was found dead in her room.
Based on the information, the police arrived at the scene. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify the assailant, who is believed to be someone known to Kriti.
The incident has also raised questions about the negligence of the PG owner. To expedite the investigation, the police have registered a case at the Koramangala police station and formed three special teams to track down the perpetrator.
Investigators are examining Kriti's mobile phone for critical information, including her call detail records (CDR) to identify her last contacts and any suspicious calls. They are also analysing CCTV footage to reconstruct her final movements and the events leading up to the crime.
This tragic event has sparked concern and anger among residents, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security measures in PG accommodations across the city.
