'Hindutva, Gods Not BJP's Private Property': Shivakumar Visits Mahakaleshwar, Kalabhairava Temples In Ujjain

After visiting the Mahakaleshwar temple and offering prayers at the Kalabhairava temple of Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain, DK Shivakumar predicted a thumping victory for Congress in the Madhya Pradesh polls.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Sunday visited the Mahakaleshwar temple and offered prayers at the Kalabhairava temple of Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain. Later, he also participated in the Bhasm Aarti' held at dawn in the Mahakaleshwar Temple. After offering prayers, he predicted a thumping Congress party’s victory in year-end MP polls, reported news agency PTI. Shivakumar further mentioned that his party is launching a programme including free buses for all the women of the state. He added that his government would implement all five promises that were promised during the recently held state assembly elections.

In a video posted by news agency ANI, he said, "Mahakaleshwar has given us a govt to serve, the people of Karnataka, I had come here before the election as well.”

The Deputy Minister also hit out strongly at Bharatiya Janata Party by saying that Hindutva, temples, and gods were not the private property of the BJP. "Hindutva, temples or gods are not the property of any political party. They are for everyone. It is not the BJP's personal property,” said Shivakumar, as quoted by PTI.

While replying to a query by media persons, he also said, “We believe in every section of society, every culture of the society, every language of the country and every religion."

Earlier today, the 61-year-old Congress leader reached Mahakaleshwar temple before 4 am to participate in the 'Bhasm Aarti,’ where he also meditated for some time in Nandi Hall.

Shivkumar mentioned that this was his third or fourth visit to Mahakal Temple, "I have come here during my difficult times.”

He also stated, “Before the Karnataka elections, I had prayed to Mahakaleshwar and Kalabhairava for power. Now we have got power (in Karnataka).”

On the sidelines of the visit, Shivakumar said the Congress strategy for MP polls was in place but he refused to divulge more details.

After Karnataka's victory, Shivakumar exuded confidence that the Congress would get more seats in the 230-member MP Assembly than the 135 seats his party won in Karnataka.
