Five of a family were killed on Tuesday after a car fell off a bridge at Deoghar's Sikatia barrage in Jharkhand, reported PTI. The accident took place when the vehicle was on its way to to Giridih from Asansol Sankul village in Sarath, Deoghar, said the police. "Five members of a family were killed when their car fell off the bridge into the barrage while the driver of the SUV has been injured," Deoghar Superintendent of Police Ajit Peter Dungdung told PTI. 


The accident occurred when a family member, an engineer by profession started driving the vehicle to take selfies and lost control over the SUV, the police added. 






In a similar incident in Tamil Nadu, several people are feared dead after a car collided with a government bus in Tiruvannamalai.






The car collided with a State Government bus at Sangam - Krishnagiri Highways in the Tiruvannamalai District, according to another PTI report. 


On Monday, one person was killed after a portion of an under-construction bridge collapsed in Gujarat's Palanpur. Congress leader Amit Chavda claimed that three people including an auto-rickshaw driver were feared trapped under the debris.

"The girders on the bridge fell possibly due to a mechanical failure. A team from Gandhinagar are on their way to Palanpur to conduct a technical study on this matter. One body retrieved from under the debris," Banaskantha-Palanpur Collector, Varun Baranval told news agency ANI.
