Former Mumbai Mayor and a well-known Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Vishwanath Mahadeshwar died on Tuesday at the age of 63 due to cardiac arrest, a former party corporator said. He had not been keeping well for the past few days. He was survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter, reported news agency PTI. His mortal remains will be kept at Raje Sambhaji Vidyalaya in Santacruz East at 2 PM for the last darshan. At 4 pm, the funeral procession will leave for the crematorium at Teachers' Colony. His funeral will be attended by Uddhav Thackeray.

Mumbai Youth Congress President Zeeshan Siddique has expressed grief and shared condolences with the bereaved family of Mahadeshwar. He took to Twitter to write, "Extremely saddened to hear about the demise of former mayor of mumbai - Shri Vishwanath Mahadeshwar ji. My sincere condolences to his family members and loved ones in this tough time (SIC)."

Journey of Vishwanath Mahadeshwar


Mahadeshwar was the Mayor of Mumbai from 2017 to 2019. He also chaired the Standing Committee. He has also served as the Chairman of the Education Committee. He faced defeat from the Bandra East constituency in the 2019 assembly elections. In 2002, Mahadeshwar was elected to the post of corporator for the first time.


Vishwanath Mahadeshwar was born on 15 April 1960. He completed his graduation from Ruia College, Mumbai. He was also the former Principal of Raje Sambhaji Vidyalaya in Santacruz.
