Delhi Riots: Brother Of Deceased IB Officer Ankit Sharma Gets Govt Job, AAP Hits Out At BJP
In a tweet, the AAP said Ankur Sharma has been posted in the education department of the Delhi government.
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday handed over a government job certificate to the brother of deceased Intelligence Bureau officer Ankit Sharma, who was killed during the 2020 northeast Delhi riots.
In a tweet, the AAP said Ankur Sharma has been posted in the education department of the Delhi government. Last year, Kejriwal had presented a check of Rs 1 crore to Ankit Sharma's family, the CMO said.
"Loss of human life can never be fulfilled but with this government job and Rs 1 crore assistance, the family will get strength. In future too, we will help the family in every possible way," Kejriwal tweeted.
Ankit Sharma was found dead in a drain near his home in northeast Delhi's Chand Bagh area in February 2020.
Clashes had erupted on February 24, 2020, between citizenship law supporters and protesters, leaving at least 53 people dead and around 200 injured.
In a statement, the Delhi government said Kejriwal had fulfilled his promise of providing a government job to the kin of Ankit Sharma.
"Kejriwal government is appointing Ankur Sharma as a 'Junior Assistant' in the Education Department," the statement said.
Kejriwal and deputy CM Manish Sisodia also met the family of Ankit Sharma on Thursday.
Ankur Sharma said the Delhi government had supported his family at every step following the death of his brother, PTI reported.
"The CM provided us with financial assistance. Today, I have been offered a government job in the Delhi government by the CM," the statement quoted Ankur Sharma as saying.
Hitting out at the BJP, the AAP said the party did politics in the name of Hindus but did not do anything for those who suffered due to the 2020 riots.
"We had a feeling that the BJP, which would certainly not help Muslims as it hates them, would help Hindu society. But it is very unfortunate that BJP, which only plays politics in the name of Hindus, did not come forward to help any of the Hindu families who were victims of the riots," PTI quoted AAP's leader Durgesh Pathak as saying.
He said it was Arvind Kejriwal's government which helped the victims of the riots "in all possible way".
