Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi's brother-in-law Rakesh Tiwari died in a road accident in Jharkhand's Dhanbad on Saturday, news agency PTI reported, citing police. The police said that Tripathi's sister, Sabita Tiwari, sustained injuries in the incident. According to a police officer, the accident took place at around 4.30 pm at Nirsa Bazar on the Delhi-Kolkata National Highway-2, when the car in which the couple was travelling hit a road divider, PTI reported.
The couple was headed to West Bengal from the Gopalganj district of Bihar. Rakesh Tiwari was declared dead at the Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH), Dhanbad, where they were rushed after the accident, the officer said. SNMMCH Emergency HOD Dinesh Kumar Gindauria said that Pankaj Tripathi's sister, who suffered a leg fracture, is out of danger.
Before reaching Nirsa Market Chowk, their high-speed car (WB44D-2899) crashed into a divider. The impact was so severe that the car was badly shattered, and the front part was damaged, according to a Hindustan Times report.
Following the accident, the police extracted both individuals from the car with the help of locals. They transported them to Dhanbad Medical College Hospital, where Rajesh Tiwari was declared dead by emergency doctors. According to the HT report, Pankaj Tripathi's brother-in-law, Rajesh Tiwari, worked for the Indian Railways. He was posted in Chittaranjan. According to family members, he was returning to Chittaranjan from his village when the accident occurred, resulting in his death.
Last year in August, Pankaj Tripathi's father Pandit Banaras Tiwari passed away. He was 98 years old. The 'OMG 2' actor's father Banaras Tripathi died in Bihar's native village Balsand. Tripathi's father was suffering from age-related illness. Pankaj's parents lived in Bihar, while the actor lives in Mumbai with his wife and daughter.
