Bihar Cabinet: Congress MLC Samir Kumar Singh on Monday said that the party's Bihar unit president, Akhilesh Prasad Singh, has put forth his demand on cabinet expansion to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar asking for more allocations for the grand old party. Mentioning that there are 19 Congress legislators in the Bihar Assembly, he stated that the party should get more representation in the state cabinet. At least two to three leaders should be accommodated, he opined.

"What is our right has been discussed. The Chief Minister will surely respect the sentiments of the Congress party," he said, as per news agency ANI.

According to Samir Singh, the cabinet should include three more Congress leaders, but currently, talks are on to include two.

He also advised the Bharatiya Janata Party to do "serious politics" as the Union government led by its senior members have to fulfill their responsibility towards the country.

Last month, in an interview with Times of India, Bihar Congress president Akhilesh Prasad Singh expressed confidence that his party will receive additional berths after the Karnataka election results.

He also stressed a proper share in the commissions and boards.

“I have had a talk with CM Nitish Kumar on this front too when I along with senior party leaders Tariq Anwar and Bhakta Charan Das met the CM earlier,” he told TOI.

As per the report, one of the Mahagathbandhan leaders stated that the state commissions and boards help include a large number of dedicated party workers, and some even get the status of state minister.

Earlier this month, JD(U) MLA Ratnesh Sada was sworn in as minister in the Bihar cabinet after Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) chief's son Santosh Suman resigned over "pressure" from the JD(U) to merge his Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) with Nitish Kumar's party.
