Indian Embassy In Kuwait Rescues Andhra Man Forced To Tend Cattle In Deserted Area: 'Was Alone, Without Food'

Andhra Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh confirmed that efforts are underway to bring him back after the Indian Embassy in Kuwait intervened following a social media outcry.

Siva Aiveta, a migrant laborer from Chamarthi village in Andhra Pradesh's Annamayya district, is set to return to India after being stranded in Kuwait. Andhra Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh confirmed that efforts are underway to bring him back after the Indian Embassy in Kuwait intervened following a social media outcry.

Lokesh shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the labourer, identified as Siva, is now safely lodged at the Indian embassy in Kuwait. He assured that Siva would soon be brought back to Andhra Pradesh. In a video posted by the minister, Siva expressed his gratitude to the embassy officials for their prompt action and care.

Taking to X, India in Kuwait said, "Mr Siva Aiveta from Vijayawada is with the Embassy @indembkwt and arrangements have been made for his return to India tomorrow. It is the constant endeavour of @indembkwt to promptly assist Indian nationals in distress. @DrSJaishankar @MEAIndia @PMOIndia @IndianDiplomacy."
 
 
 

Andhra Pradesh Labourer Stuck In Kuwait

Recently, Siva who was suffering the foreign land came to light after he posted a distressing video on social media. As a daily wage worker, he had borrowed money to travel to Kuwait, lured by the promise of a better job. However, upon arrival, he was assigned to take care of cattle in a remote area, facing severe hardships, including a lack of food and isolation. When he reached out to the agent who facilitated his travel, he was told he had to continue the same job.

In the emotional video, Siva mentioned that he was on the brink of despair and would end his life if no help arrived, according to a report on IANS. His appeal was tagged to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Home Minister, and other leaders of Andhra Pradesh.

Responding swiftly, Lokesh assured immediate action. He revealed that the party's NRI team had reached out to Siva's family and that the state government would collaborate with the Ministry of External Affairs to ensure Siva's safe return.
