Acropolis Mall fire: A massive fire engulfed a few stores on the fourth floor at the Acropolis Mall in Kolkata's Kasba area on Friday. Videos of the blaze quickly went viral. A food court and a bookstore on the fourth floor are likely to have suffered extensive damage in the fire. There is no report of any casualty in the Acropolis Mall fire so far.

The area was covered in smoke due to the fire. As an alarm was raised, multiple fire engines rushed to the scene. Firefighters rushed in wearing oxygen masks. The fire brigade quickly organised an evacuation.

The mall workers were moved to the nearby Gitanjali Stadium.

Kolkata police personnel too rushed to the spot. DCP Jadavpur Division Bidisha Kalita Dasgupta said: "The fire has been brought under control but nothing can be said right now."

Traffic in front of the mall had to be regulated. The cause and source of the fire is still unknown and an investigation is being conducted.

The fire incident comes barely 3 days after a blaze in another upscale locality of Kolkata. On Tuesday, a restaurant caught fire at the intersection of Camac Street and Park Street. At least 9 fire engines had to be rushed to douse the fire.
