The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the ideological wing of the BJP, seems to be going all out at the saffron party for its decisions before the Lok Sabha polls that led to its poorer-than-expected performance in the elections. In the latest development, RSS National Executive member Indresh Kumar in an apparent attack on the BJP said the party that had become arrogant was stopped at 241 seats by Lord Ram.

Indresh Kumar is said to be second in command after RSS sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat. He was speaking at the 'Ram Rath Ayodhya Yatra Darshan Poojan Samaroh' held near Jaipur.

Without naming anyone or any party, Indresh Kumar said that the election results reflected certain people's attitudes. "They became arrogant. The party first did bhakti and then became arrogant. Lord Ram stopped them at 241 seats, but made them the biggest party," he was quoted as saying by ABP News. The BJP had bagged 240 seats in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.

"On the other hand, those who did not have faith in Lord Ram were stopped at 234 only," he said in an apparent reference to the INDIA bloc.

What Mohan Bhagwat Said

Earlier, RSS sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat said that any true kar sevak must be devoid of pride, must follow decorum, and be guided by ethics. Commenting on the elections, he said: "Election is a process of building consensus... The way in which people abuse each other, misuse technology, spread falsehoods during election campaigns is not right."

Bhagwat also commented on the Manipur strife, saying the communal divide was created or instigated there and that the state is still burning and crying for help. "Who will pay attention to this? It is our duty to consider it by giving it priority," he said. The BJP is in power in Manipur and the government is headed by N Biren Singh.

Article In RSS Mouthpiece Stirs Debate

On June 10, an article in RSS mouthpiece 'Organiser' by RSS researcher Ratan Sharda created quite a stir across the nation, in which he said BJP karyakartas failed to realise that the '400-seat' target was a dare to the Opposition. He said targets are achieved by working on the ground and not by posting selfies on social media.

Udhhav Sena Praises 'Certain RSS Leaders'

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) pounced on the statements of Mohan Bhagwat and Indresh Kumar. He said: "We had hopes from the RSS that their top leaders would stop this politics of revenge and arrogance. But that did not happen... Certain RSS leaders have had a role to play in keeping the democracy of the country safe. But that has changed in the last 10 years."

He further said that the people had stopped the politics of arrogance. He said that the RSS can help in removing the "arrogant leaders from power".
