With the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections slated to be held in November, the Congress's Bhupesh Baghel government in the state seems confident about its work. The BJP, too, seemed upbeat about its chances of coming to power and said that the atmosphere will be in its favor in the coming months. With just a few months left for the polls, ABP News-Matrize conducted a survey to gauge the mood in Chhattisgarh. According to the ABP News-Matrize opinion poll, the Congress could secure 47-52 seats out of a total of 90 assembly seats in the state.

According to the results of the survey, a fight is expected between Congress and the BJP in case the elections are held today. In public opinion, 44 per cent of vote share is seen going to Congress, while 43 per cent is seen in favour of the BJP. As far as the seats are concerned, in the opinion of the public, in the event of elections being held today, the Congress would have got 47 to 52 seats, while the BJP would have got 34 to 39 seats.

Forty-six per cent people described the work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as 'very good', and 48 per cent people described it as 'satisfactory', this shows that more than 80 per cent of people consider PM Modi's work to be fine. At the same time, only 18 per cent of people have described the functioning of the central government as 'very bad'.
The Congress had won 68 seats in the last election, while the BJP had only secured 15 seats. The Congress now holds 71 assembly seats, while the BJP is in power in 14 assembly contituency. Total 46 seats are required for a 90-member assembly to have a majority.
In the last assembly election, the Congress has a vote share of 44%, while the BJP has a vote share of 33.5%.
According to the survey, the Congress is likely to win between 47 and 52 seats, while the BJP may win between 34 and 39 seats. Despite the fact that Congress appears to have an advantage over the BJP, the vote share per centage is fairly close, and the outcome could entirely depend on a last-minute shift in voting patterns.
If smaller parties like BSP and Aam Aadmi Party are able to garner a vote share of 3-5 per cent in the polls, they may also play a significant role.
While Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the face of the elections for the BJP other than previous CM Raman Singh, the Congress will wager on current CM Bhupesh Baghel with Rahul Gandhi being one of the star campaigners. The Chhattisgarh mandate will be vital -- for both the BJP and the Congress -- as it will establish the vibe for the 2024 Lok Sabha, in which the saffron party will look for a third term for the NDA.
The ABP News-Matrize Opinion Poll was conducted between March 7 and 22. It was conducted in all 90 assembly constituencies of Chhattisgarh via Random Sampling Quantitative Data Collection by means of Field Survey and Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI).
