(Sunday night in USA) The winner of the Royal Rumble match gets to be in the main event match a Wrestlemania. Royal Rumble essentially opens the door to Wrestlemania and thus, it is one of the most revered PPV among the WWE fans. Every year, Royal Rumble has many surprise elements. WWE Championship: Drew McIntyre vs. Goldberg

Since Goldberg returned to Monday Night Raw, fans were concerned about his performance and ability to win like he used to. The same thing reflected in his match-up against McIntyre. Drew McIntyre landed a successful Claymore to win the match against Goldberg. This happened only after an average display by the veteran.

SmackDown Women's Championship: Sasha Banks vs. Carmella

Winner: Sasha Banks

Women's Tag Team Championship: Asuka & Charlotte Flair vs. Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax

Winner: Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax

 Universal Championship: Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens (Last Man Standing match)

The most physical of all the match-ups today, this match lived up to all the expectations from it. The match-up took place between steel chairs and steel steps among other things. Both the wrestlers gave their 100% in the match-up. The match was not bereft of any drama as Paul Heyman walked in the game to unlock Roman Reigns who was locked. Reigns also gave a spear to Ovens who fell back on a display board. Finally, Reigns locks Owens with a guillotine hold until he passes out. This is the point when Reigns wins the count and wins the Universal Championship.

Winner: Bianca Belair who entered the match in the third place and competed for 56 minutes and 49 seconds, a new record for the women Royal Rumble.

Men’s Royal Rumble Match

To everyone’s surprise, Edge who entered the Rumble at the first position won it by eliminating arch rival Randy Orton. Becomes the third player in history of the Rumble to win it from the first spot.
