The final match of the World Test Championship between India and New Zealand is now at the final stage. In this match being played at the Aegis Bowl in Southampton, more than two days of play have been ruined due to rain and bad light and hence it will now be played on the sixth day i.e. Reserve Day.
India have taken a lead of 32 runs in the second innings so far and may invite New Zealand to bat again today after taking a lead of 150-200 runs. According to the Meteorological Department, the probability of rain on Wednesday is only 5 percent, while the maximum temperature is expected to be 21 degrees Celsius and the minimum is 7 degrees Celsius.
The chances of very little rain at Southampton comes as a big relief for fans who wish to see competitive cricket.
ICC on Reserve Day: “In the event of time being lost during the match, the ICC match referee will regularly update the teams and media about the way in which the reserve day may be used. The final decision on whether the reserve day needs to be used will be announced at the scheduled start of the last hour on the fifth day,” an ICC statement said.
