Wimbledon 2024: Carlos Alcaraz is the Wimbledon 2024 men's singles champion. In what was a repeat of the 2023 Wimbledon final, the Spaniard made sure that Novak Djokovic is not able to avenge his defeat and get a different result. Alcaraz's victory reinforces the growing belief that perhaps the great era of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer is done and dusted with the new generation set to take over big time with Federer having already announced his retirment and Djokovic continuing a title-less run this year.
It didn't matter to Alcaraz that his opponent was a record 24-time Grand Slam champion. On the day, he played on merit and showcased his class and agility, breezing past the first two sets- 6-2, 6-2 in no time. By the time Alcaraz's Serbian opponent breathed, he was trailing to sets down against an opponent 16 years younger to him whose energy levels seemed to be peaking as the duo entered the third set.

Wimbledon 2024: Novak Djokovic Did Not Go Down Without A Fight
Credit to Djokovic though for ensuring that he put up a fight in the third set but eventually it was Alcaraz who had the last laugh, winning the match in straight sets by claiming the third set that went all the down to a tie-breaker. Alcaraz was serving for the championship at one-stage but Djokovic saved three Championship points and break back to make it 5-5 in the third set. Eventually though the Serbian was outclassed by Alcaraz who won the tie-breaker 7-4.

Alcaraz's win makes him only the sixth male player to win the French Open and the Wimbledon singles trophy in the same since 1968. At 21 years of age, the young tennis sensation who hails from the country of Nadal, has two Wimbledon titles to his names already, one of the youngest to achieve the feat.
