WATCH | U-19 WC Final: Tanzim Hasan Sakib Nearly Hits Divyansh Saxena On His Head

In the second over of India's innings, opener Divyaansh Saxena had tapped a ball back to bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who picked it up and hurled it back, sending it flying not too far from the batsman's head

New Delhi: The Bangladesh U-19 cricket team defeated India U-19 team for the first time in their history to win their maiden World Cup title. Defending a very low total, the Indian bowlers led by leggie Ravi Bishnoi gave it their all, but it wasn’t enough to win their fifth title. After rain interrupted the game, Bangladesh chased down the revised target of 170 to win their maiden world title by three wickets (D/L method). The final mega-thriller ended on a controversial note as both teams players got involved in an altercation. Even during Bangladesh's innings , there were many instances in the which the players were seen engaged in an exchange of words at several points. In the second over of India's innings, opener Divyaansh Saxena had tapped a ball back to bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who picked it up and hurled it back, sending it flying not too far from the batsman's head. It was followed by a bit of staring and mouthing-off and needed an intervention on the part of umpire. "We were easy. We think its part and parcel of the game - you win some and you lose some," said India captain Priyam at the post-match press conference. "But their reaction was dirty. I think it shouldn't have happened. But it's okay." Meanwhile, Bangladesh captain Akbar Ali said he was "sorry" for his team's behaviour. "What happened, it should not (have) happened," Akbar said. "I don't know what exactly happened. I didn't ask what was going on. But, you know, in the final, emotion can come out, and sometimes the boys were getting pumped, and emotions were coming through. As a youngster, it shouldn't happen. In any position, in any manner, we have to show the respect to the opponent, we should have respect for the game. "Cricket is known for being a gentleman's game. So I'll say, I'll be sorry for my team," he added.
