Virender Sehwag Offers To Provide 'Free Education' To Children Of Odisha Train Accident Victims

In another tweet, Virender Sehwag saluted the rescue efforts being made following the tragic accident in Odisha’s Balasore.

Indian cricket team's former opener Virender Sehwag, on Sunday (June 4), took to Twitter to make an 'unparalleled gesture'. Sehwag offered to provide free education to children of victims of one of India’s most horrific train accidents in last many years. 275 people died while over 1000 faced injuries in the tragic Odisha train accident that occured after collision between two express passenger trains and a stopped freight train in Odisha’s Balasore on Friday (June 2).

"This image will haunt us for a long time. In this hour of grief, the least I can do is to take care of education of children of those who lost their life in this tragic accident. I offer such children free education at Sehwag International School’s boarding facility," Virender Sehwag tweeted with a image of the accident site attached to the post.

In another tweet, Sehwag saluted the rescue efforts being made following the tragic accident.

"Also salute all the brave men and women who have been at the forefront of the rescue operations and the medical team and volunteers who have been voluntarily donating blood . We are together in this," he wrote.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Sunday that the Railway Board recommended that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigate the tragic Odisha train accident.

Earlier in the day, the railways virtually ruled out driver error and system malfunction, implying that the Odisha triple train accident was caused by "sabotage" and tampering with the electronic interlocking system. The "root cause" of the accident, as well as the "criminals" responsible for it, have been identified, according to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
