Number four seed Naomi Osaka booked her place in the women's singles finals of the 2020 US Open for the second time in her career after securing a hard fought semifinal win over big-hitting American Jennifer Brady 7-6(1) 3-6 6-3 on Thursday.
Brady who made it to the semifinals of the grand slam for the very first time in her career gave a tough fight in the opening two sets to her much fancied Japanese opponent, eventually losing the opening set 7-6 but coming back strongly to win the set set 6-3 and force a final set in a thrilling semifinal encounter.
However, the experienced Osaka who is also a 2-times Grand Slam champion raised the standard of her game as the match got into the next two sets and won the deciding set 6-3 to fend off the challenge of the 28th seed American and clinch a pulsating match.

Fourth seed Osaka, who won the US Open two years back in 2018 is bidding for a second grand slam title at Flushing Meadows in New York and her third overall in his stellar career. Osaka achieved a rare feat when she won back to back grand slams by winnning the 2018 US Open and the 2019 Australian Open.
Osaka's victory ended a fairy-tale run for her American opponent Jennifer Brady, whose previous best Grand Slam performances was fourth round appearances in the 2017 Australian and US Open.
Osaka will be now take on the winner of the second semifinal clash between third seed Serena Williams or former world number one Victoria Azarenka in the finals.
