India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and host Sri Lanka will be participating in this tournament, but the island nation could lose its hosting rights due to the ongoing economic and political crisis in the island nation. The Asia Cup has already been postponed by two years due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
According to a report in Cricket Pakistan, Sri Lanka might lose the rights to host the Asia Cup 2022 due to its worrisome financial crisis and it is possible that some other country can get the hosting of Asia Cup 2022.

The schedule of the Asia Cup 2022 will be decided in the International Cricket Council's (ICC) quarterly meeting, which will take place on Sunday in Dubai. For the time being, the Asia Cup 2022 is to be held in Sri Lanka from 27 August to 11 September.
Sri Lankans are currently facing a shortage of rations, fuel, and other essentials. Sri Lanka's 22 million people have suffered weeks of power blackouts and severe food shortages. For this reason, having the Asia Cup 2022 in Sri Lanka seems impossible for the time being.
