New Delhi: Rishabh Pant, the promising wicket-keeper batsman, celebrated his 25th birthday today, October 4. His birthday overlapped with the third T20 International against South Africa in Indore.
The Uttarakhand-born prodigy is considered a trump card to draw attention with his daring shot-making and willingness to take risks. Apart from Adam Gilchrist, Pant is the only wicket-keeper batter to have scored a century in Test matches in England, Australia, India, and South Africa.
Pant has shocked many by becoming one of the finest keeper-batters in the world in the longest format, whether it was the knock at Edgbaston this year, the historic triumph at Gabba, or his first Test ton at the Oval in 2018. While he continued to excel in Tests, Pant's white-ball performance suffered. Pant is gradually finding his feet in ODIs, having scored his first century against England this year. Many expected him to have a lower average in T20Is and a higher average in Tests considering his approach to the game.
Wishes flooded in from all directions. Wasim Jaffer poked fun of Pant's inability to bat in the first few of games with a meme that stated, "Kya gift chahiye bol? Batting," Yuvraj Singh also made a funny post that said "Wishing you a career as Lamba and ghana as your zulfein. Stay blessed Rishabh Pant, hope it’s a memorable day and year ahead. God bless and all the best for the World Cup. Happy birthday!"
Suresh Raina too made a heartfelt greeting, stating, "Best wishes to you Rishabh Pant on your Birthday, wishing you all the love and success. May you continue to make the whole team and Nation proud. Loads of love to you brother! Have a blessed day! #HappyBirthdayRishabh."
Virat Kohli, Rishab's Delhi Capitals mate David Warner, Dinesh Karthik, and Pant's girlfriend Isha Negi have all expressed their best wishes as he celebrates his birthday.
