PT Usha Set To Get Elected As IOA Chief Unopposed, Rijiju Reacts
IOA New President: PT Usha filed her nomination papers for the top post on Sunday. Along with her, 14 others from his team filed nomination papers for various posts.
New Delhi: Legendary athlete PT Usha is all set to become the president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) as she is the only candidate for the top post in the elections to be held on December 10. She will be the first woman president of IOA, reported news agency PTI.
Meawhile, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju has extended his wishes to PT Usha saying, "Congratulations to legendary Golden Girl, Smt. P T Usha on being elected as the President of Indian Olympic Association. I also congratulate all the sporting heroes of our country on becoming the office bearers of the prestigious IOA! Nation is proud of them!"

The 58-year-old Usha, a multiple Asian Games gold medallist, had finished fourth in the final of the 400m hurdles at the 1984 Olympics.
She filed her nomination papers for the top post on Sunday. Along with her, 14 others from his team filed nomination papers for various posts.
The deadline for filing nomination papers for the IOA elections ended on Sunday. IOA Electoral Officer Umesh Sinha did not receive any nominations on Friday and Saturday but 24 candidates filed nominations for various posts on Sunday.

In these elections, there will be competition for the post of Vice President (Women), Joint Secretary (Women). Twelve candidates are in the fray for four members of the executive council.
The IOA will have a President, a Senior Vice President, two Vice Presidents (one male and one female), one Treasurer, two Joint Secretaries (one male and one female), and six other Executive Council members up for election. Out of which two (one male and one female) shall be from the elected 'SOM'.
Two members (one male and one female) of the Executive Council shall be representatives of the Athletes' Commission.
