It was a dream come true for Oscar Piastri at the Hungarian Grand Prix as he managed to clinch his first-ever Formula One victory. In a dramatic race, it was the Australian rookie who managed to lead what was a dominant performance from McLaren as they managed a p1 and p2 finish. Meanwhile, Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton finished P3 to complete the set of podium finishes.


"It’s very, very special," said an elated Piastri as quoted by the official website of F1.


"This is really the day I dreamed of as a kid, standing on the top step of an F1 podium," he added.

"Obviously a bit complicated at the end but I put myself in the right position at the start, and thank you to the team for an amazing effort, and amazing car.


"It’s a hell of a lot of fun racing for McLaren, so I can’t thank them enough for giving me the opportunity to be in F1, and to be able to win together 18 months in is an incredible feeling."


 






Hamilton Becomes First Driver To Reach 200 Podium Finishes


Meanwhile, Hamilton became the first driver in the world to reach 200 podium finishes. He has taken a massive lead over the driver who is second on list who happens to be Michael Schumacher who had 155 podium finishes in his remarkable career.

It was Hamilton's 12th career podium finish at the Hungaroring and also the first time the Briton finished on the podium in consecutive races since Spain and Canada 2023. Charles Leclerc ensured a P4 for Ferrari, scoring 12 points in this race, which happens to be the same number of points as in the the previous four Grands Prix combined.
