Tokyo: Aditi Ashok, India's ace golfer scored a birdie with four holes to play and secured a silver medal position at the final of Tokyo Olympics 2020. The next three puts were not very impressive by the 23-year old golfer. She slipped to the 4th spot as Lydia's birdie didn't allow the Indian golfer to take the joint 3rd spot for a long time.

Nonetheless, Ashok missed out on a medal but kept hopes alive for India's first-ever medal in golf. This year's Olympics have been memorable for the Bangalore-based golfer. After her brilliant performance in the final that could not fetch her a medal, she received heaps of praises from a lot of important personalities in India. The President of India, Ramnath Kovind also congratulated the golfer. Apart from him, India's new Sports Minister Anurag Thakur also praised the Indian golfer.

Aditi was also part of the Indian contingent in the 2016 Rio Olympics as an extremely young golfer. She did not have a lot of hopes back then, but in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Aditi was confident to win a medal. “Last time I think it was more just enjoying the experience and staying at the village, seeing all the other athletes, but this time I think definitely here to have a good finish, hopefully, give my best, try and win a medal," Aditi had told ESPN before the start of her campaign.
